If you are interested:
Today I got new stones for honing
- Tsushima Nagura (right)
- Nakayama Maruka (left)
I tested with a Wostenholm. The stones worked very well.
The Maruka is a "polisher/finisher". I hope it is the right translation. Sorry if there are some mistakes in my posts!
Until today I only honed with Naniwas.
Some information by my dealer:
You take a nagura for opening a hone. Depending on the nature of the hone you do this for either just opening (cleaning) it or for producing a fine slurry.
The Tsushima is one of the finest nagura available in Japan. It is said that he is mined from see ground.
It is suitable for the finest polishing hones and makes it even finer.
With this nagura you get the finest slurry possible. You can use it for artifical hones or natural ones.
The Tushima is quite dense and hard and will last for quite some time. 5 sides are varnished and therefore this is a nice item for your desk too.Last edited by eTom; 08-13-2010 at 05:22 PM.
